Arsenal is set to give 'guard of honour' to Liverpool for being the better team
Mikel Arteta has announced that Arsenal will honour Liverpool by applauding them when they visit Anfield this weekend, in recognition of Liverpool's memorable performance this season as they were crowned champions. They will perform the guard of honour before kickoff on Sunday, marking the second time in recent years to do so.
Arteta praised Liverpool's efforts and exploits that they carried out this season. He even asserted that Arne Slot's team is deserving of receiving the guard of honour. He even praised Slot's side as being better than Arsenal.
"They deserve that. They've been the best team, they've been the most consistent, what Arne [Slot] and the coaching staff have done has been fascinating, it's been really good, and they fully deserve it. And that's the sport, when somebody is better, you have to applaud and accept and try to reach that level." Arteta said.
"Yes, something that has to drive you, motivate you, and pain probably is a good one to use sometimes when you don't really want to do something but it's the right thing to do, usually as a motivation for next season," Arteta added.
Arsenal currently occupies second place, with three matches remaining in the season. While Arsenal cannot claim silverware this season, they are still in contention for achieving UCL qualification.
