Manchester City will be travelling to Spain, as they are set to face Real Madrid in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final at Santiago Bernabeu. The defending UCL champions will try to win and take a healthy lead before the 2nd leg. The Sky Blues will be missing their two key defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker, both were excellent when these two teams met in the semi-final of last season's UCL semi-final.

Ahead of the crucial clash, the Premier League champions have already got into the grove for the upcoming summer transfer window. Lucas Paqueta, the West Ham United attacking midfielder was rumoured of joining City for the upcoming season. The Brazilian has scored eight goals and six assists in all competitions for the side. City was interested in him last summer but they backed out when the FA opened an investigation into potential betting-rule breaches.

However, as per the recent developments, Paqueta has agreed verbal terms with the club. According to Foot Mercato, the champions have already agreed to personal terms with Paqueta on a long-term contract. The gritty playmaker can fill any of the four positions behind Erling Haaland. And, given his previous experiences at AC Milan and Lyon, he will feel quite at home alongside seasoned players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri. However, City have yet to initiate talks with West Ham about a transfer fee.

Joshua Kimmich to City?

They have a strong overall side, but they would like to boost their squad with some further recruits in the forthcoming summer transfer window and use them as backups in various spots. A few other names have been connected with the club ahead of the upcoming season.

Joshua Kimmich is a name linked with the club as his playing style suits the team and played under Pep Guardiola he would like to make a comeback and play under him in EPL as he is habitual of playing two roles. Florian Wirtz is another name that has been in talks with the club. The 20-year-old has five goals and seven assists in 16 league appearances for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. City are in desparate need of a winger and he might be the one they are looking for.
