Manchester City's top targets in upcoming 2024/25 transfer window

Manchester City was exceptional in the 2022/23 summer transfer window as they brought in some good additions to their squad. They brought in Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez, and Kalvin Phillips. Pep’s side won four trophies in the last season. They were exceptional in the previous season winning the treble for the first time alongside the UEFA Champions League. City has brought in some of the greatest players after the signing of their coach Pep Guardiola. 

The Sky Blues have been one of the most dominant sides in the European circuit and signed big names after their Arabian take over. The takeover was immediately followed by a flurry of bids for high-profile players, with the likes of Sergio Aguero,  Carlos Tevez, David Silva, Vincent Kompany. These names have been etched in the history books of the club. There have been three statues of Kompany, Silva and Aguero outside the Etihad Stadium. 

However they have a formidable overall side, but they will like to bolster their squad with some more additions in the upcoming summer transfer window and add them as the backups for some roles in the side. There have been some names that are linked with the club ahead of the new season. In the article we will be looking for the top possible signings of City in the 2024/25 season. 

Here are the transfer targets for Manchester City for the 2024–25 season

Joshua Kimmich 

Kimmich has been absoulutely brilliant with Bayern Munich over the years. The defensive midifelder turned into a right-back has been exceptional for the German champions as he won every possible trophy with the club. The 28-year-old footballer was turned as a right back by Pep Guardiola and can fit in well for the side as he can provide the depth in the squad and play two roles as well giving a support to Rodri and Kyle Walker. 

Lucas Paqueta

The Brazilian midfielder has been a exceptional player for West Ham United. As per the reports in France, he signed a deal with City. But there has not been any official deal yet, his qualities matches for the side as well as he can play as an attacking midfielder, a box to box creator and a winger as well. 

Florian Wirtz

The German international has been brilliant with Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season. The 20-year-old has five goals and seven assists in 16 league appearances since his move in January. Wirtz is extremely technical, and could play as an attacking midfielder or wide attacker for City. City can be the only club to afford him with the market price he has currently. 

Bruno Guimaraes

Guimaraes is another player on the transfer radar of City. The Brazilian defensive midifielder can be a like for like replacement for Kalvin Phillips. The latter was brought from Leeds but he could not live up to the expecations of the club and might be released after the current season and Guimaraes will be an option to replace him in the squad. The talented midfielder is arguably the Magpies’ best player. 

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been exceptional in the last season for Napoli. He led the side to their first title after 33 years. Kvaratskhelia was exceptional last season, scoring 19 goals and assisted 22. City have been heavily linked for the Georgia international, he can be a good signning for the club as they have less options in the winger positions.
