After defeating Leicester City 3-1 at home on Boxing Day, Liverpool will begin 2025 as the Premier League's top team. Jordan Ayew gave the Foxes the lead after just six minutes on Merseyside, and Arne Slot's squad recovered from a shocking loss at Anfield. In the mist, the home team came back, and Cody Gakpo's incredible goal tied the score just before halftime.

Following the first half-break, the EPL pace setters picked up the pace as striker Mohamed Salah cut inside to curl in his 16th league goal of 2024–2025 and Curtis Jones scored on his 100th Premier League appearance. With his contract expiring by the end of the current campaign and no concrete word on an extension, Salah's future is still a hot topic among Liverpool supporters.

Salah begins the last six months of his contract in January, during which he is free to begin negotiations with non-English clubs. According to Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, he feels that the team's performance as the Premier League leader this season is different.

Liverpool is currently the clear favorite to win the championship, although it has faltered from similar situations in the past, most notably in the 2018–19 campaign when it had a sizable lead but ultimately lost to Manchester City. Although it seems different, Salah, who leads the league with 16 goals, told Amazon Prime that maintaining our humility is crucial.

Liverpool to face West Ham United

"It feels different but the important thing is we need to stay humble. This one is very special. Hopefully, we win the Premier League for this club - it's something I dream of," Mo Salah said to Amazon Prime.

Liverpool is seven points clear with a game remaining, and Salah and his teammates couldn't be doing much more right now. With the slot effectively managing the minutes of his key players and having a deeper squad than any other team in the top flight, Liverpool will next travel to play West Ham United on Sunday before hosting Manchester United on January 5.
