David Silva, the former star midfielder of Manchester City, recently gave a rare interview to Foot.boo where he discussed various aspects of football. He shared that he is currently focusing on spending time with his family and children and plans to participate in upcoming events once his knee fully recovers.

David's take on Modern Football

When asked about modern-day football, Silva expressed his view that the game has become more physical and regimented, with less freedom for individual talent. He noted that the tiki-taka style of play, which he is known for, is less common nowadays but still exists in certain teams. Silva also highlighted the influence of managers like Xabi Alonso, Arteta, and Guardiola who continue to prioritize possession and build-up play, a philosophy he learned from Luis Aragonés.

Regarding his favorite manager, Silva acknowledged the impact of every manager where he has worked with and expressed special gratitude to Luis Aragonés for the trust placed in him, the national team opportunity, and the creation of a winning style.

David's take on Yamal, Haaland and Coaching

In a recent interview, David Silva spoke highly of young Spanish football sensation Lamine Yamal, noting his unique style of play and which has the potential to become one of the greatest of all time. Silva also expressed his lack of interest in coaching roles, emphasizing that coaching should come naturally to those with leadership qualities and a deep understanding of the game. Additionally, he praised Erling Haaland as one of the best strikers of the current generation and reflected on his own decision to retire, acknowledging the difficulty of returning to the sport while still feeling the desire to play.

David feels it is important to study the reason behind players' injuries

David felt it was important to conduct a study to understand the reason behind players getting injured more frequently. He believed the overly demanding schedule assigned to the players may be one of the reasons.

"We need to conduct a study on why there are so many injuries. I believe there are too many matches, which leads to more travel, resulting in less recovery time. But there may be other factors as well, hence the need for a study." he said.
