With a stunning overhead kick that put him in the running for the next Puskas Award, Walter Bou handed Lanus a late victory over Tigre. The goalkeeper could not save the bicycle kick as he hammered home after controlling the ball with his chest.

Bou, who joined Lanus from Velez Sarsfield in January, has 16 goals in 25 games. However, this is unquestionably the greatest of the lot. With scoring such a goal, his name rises on top to win the Puskas Award. Puska’s award is given to the player who scores the best score in the year. After Ballon d'Or, it is the most prestigious award.

Leading the build-up play, Sanabria fed Bou close to the box's edge. The striker, having nearly overreached himself, drew back and used his chest to elevate the ball. He made the required separation from his defender with that manoeuvre. He raised the ball after getting first contact.

Guilherme Madruga won the 2024 Puskas Award back in January, defeating Julio Enciso of Brighton and Nuno Santos of Sporting Lisbon. During their match against Novorizontino, the Brazilian team scored a 25-yard bicycle kick thanks to the 23-year-old midfielder, who spent the previous season on loan at Botafogo SP.

After an outstanding start in the season, Lanus moves up to ninth position with their thrilling late victory over Tigre. On Friday, they take on Deportivo Riestra.
