Viktor Gyokeres goal vs Stum Graz

Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres scored an incredible goal after receiving the ball from just over the halfway line. He doubled Sporting Lisbon's advantage for the evening with a right-footed strike from the center of the box toward the lower left corner.

Nuno Santos, a midfielder for Sporting Lisbon, had scored the game's first goal during the 23rd minute earlier in the evening. From the left side of the area, the Portuguese winger's left-footed effort headed toward the lower left corner. Viktor Gyokeres also contributed a fantastic assist in the lead-up to the goal.

There was a penalty claim also around the 67th minute of the game, however after a fairly long VAR review, the penalty decision was overturned.

How have Sporting Lisbon and Sturm Graz fared so far this season?

On Matchday 3 in the UEFA Champions League league phase, Sporting CP went to Austria on Tuesday night to play SK Sturm Graz. Defending champions of the Primeira Liga Under Ruben Amorim, Sporting has become Portugal's dominant force, and after eight games, they have a perfect start to the 2024–25 domestic season.

On Friday night, Amorim's team defeated Portimonense, a team in the second division, 2-1 during the Taca de Portugal. Sporting won a well-deserved draw against PSV on Matchday 2 to begin their league phase season with four points after two games. They defeated Lille by a score of 2-0 to start the game.

In contrast, Sturm Graz has lost twice to Club Brugge and Brest. They appear to have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to place in the top 24, which would put them in the play-offs.

The hosts on Tuesday had a strong start to their defense in 2024–2025 and earned a fourth Austrian Bundesliga championship last season. They recently defeated RB Salzburg 5-0, taking advantage of a team that was going through a transition. After 10 games, they are now leading the division and on course to win the title again.
