Ruben Amorim apologises to Sporting CP fans for trip to West London and talks with West Ham United

Ruben Amorim has been a coach who have earned a name in the European football for his fantastic stats in over 200 matches and averages 2.24 points per game which is quite amazing for a young coach like him. Amorim was linked to become the coach of Liverpool untill the Reds signed Arne Slot as their new manager. As per the previous rumours he discussed a three-year contract to become Klopp's successor. But after the appointment of the Dutch coach at Anfield he was linked with another English club. 

The 39-year-old manager was linked with West London side West Ham United, his meeting with the club led Slot to join the Reds in the upcoming season. The Portuguese has admitted it was a "mistake" to meet with West Ham over potentially replacing David Moyes this summer as he was asked to apologise by Sporting Lisbon fans and players for his trip to London.

He visited London before Sporting CP was declared as the champions of the league before facing second-placed Porto on Sunday. The coach is yet to decide on his future whether he will be there in the club or travel somewhere else. He has a release clause of €20 million but clubs outside Portugal can get him paying €15 million as well.

Amorim told reporters, "The first thing to say is that the club knew about my trip, that’s the first thing, because it’s important and changes the context. The second thing to talk about is this ‘veil of secrecy’ around the trip. I ‘secretly’ parked my car outside, ‘secretly’ walked past 15 people, spoke with the people, took photos with people and got on a plane. And now the most important point, that obviously it was a mistake. The trip, the timing was completely wrong."

Sporting are on 80 points with 4 more games to play as they already are the champions as they are 4 points ahead with one game in hand.
