The home team had the ideal start, and their little Europa League lucky charm was in the goals once more. The ball sailed past Fraser Forster towards the top corner after Akgun lashed a left boot at it after it had landed a few yards beyond the penalty spot during the hosts' first corner.
Lankshear scored the first goal as Tottenham Hotspur unexpectedly tied the score. At the far post, Archie Gray floated a spectacular pass into Brennan Johnson. He maintained his cool to center the ball for Lankshear, who had the easy job of catching it from a few yards away and putting it into the empty net. The visitors have played excellent football and have responded well after falling behind early on.
Victor Osimhen scores two quick-fire goals for Galatasaray
Thirty yards from the goal, Radu Dragusin got caught in possession. The Napoli loanee took one touch after Mertens' deft pass through, then stabbed the ball beyond Forster towards the bottom corner. Dragusin's suffering was exacerbated when he lost the ball and was given a yellow card following a foul. The Romanian center-back for Tottenham will never forget it.
Fraser Forster made a fantastic save to deny Victor Osimhen just before he scored his second goal, but the Tottenham goalie was powerless to stop it. Mertens' exquisite ball towards the penalty area only required Osimhen's excellent left-footed touch. The home team scored a fantastic goal, but the visitors' defense, especially Dragusin's, was terrible.
Sara was left in a pile on the ground after a displeased Lankshear slid in to take the ball and got a piece out of him. There was nothing the referee could do but give the 19-year-old an additional yellow card. Tottenham Hotspur's terrible evening took a turn for the worse.
Tottenham Hotspur, who appeared much more solid with Pape Sarr in midfield, were able to get back into this match because Galatasaray entirely took their foot off the accelerator. Pedro Porro blasted a low pass from the right into the six-yard box after Kulusevski put a wonderful ball into him inside the penalty area. The ball was expertly back-heeled beyond Muslera before hitting the net by Dominic Solanke, who was in a good position. Eventually Galatasaray held on to stay unbeaten in the UEFA Europa League.
