In his full Arsenal debut, Riccardo Calafiori produced an incredible goal to tie the score against Manchester City. With a swift free kick, Thomas Partey found Gabriel Martinelli in open space on the left. He gained good footing and, just outside the area, cut inside to return the ball to Calafiori. Calafiori advanced onto the ball, beating Ederson with a spectacular left-foot strike that tucked into the far corner.

After Ederson was booked for disagreeing with the referee, Pep Guardiola angrily kicked a seat. The free kick was deemed to be taken ten yards away from the initial foul site, which infuriated the Manchester City players.

With his goal in the ninth minute of today's match against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, Erling Haaland tied the record for most goals scored by a player in the history of the game with 100 goals in only 105 appearances for City.
With his goal versus Arsenal today, the forward for Manchester City surpassed even another milestone and tied the great Cristiano Ronaldo. He now stands shoulder to shoulder with the greatest players in football history. Haaland has made Etihad his home since joining the reigning champions; in just 51 games, the wonder has already contributed 70 goals.
βIt gives us something differentβ : Mikel Arteta on starting Riccardo Calafiori
Ben White was left off of the starting lineup for Arsenal's pivotal Premier League match versus Manchester City on Sunday by manager Arteta, who instead started new recruit Riccardo Calafiori on the left side of the defence and used Jurrien Timber at right back.
Ben White made the matchday squad, although for the very first occasion since May 2022, he was not included in the Gunners starting eleven. Mikel Arteta gave an explanation of why he had been "forced" to remove him from the starting eleven prior to kickoff at Etihad.
The former Everton midfielder said, "It was a little bit forced [to drop Ben White and start Riccardo Calafiori], but we are ok. We've done it with different players but we have full belief in the players we have. It gives us something different."
