Rodrygo had an easy time latching onto a simple ball that was pushed down the right side since Stuttgart was caught far too high up the pitch right away. With his head up, the Brazilian finds Mbappe near the far post to finish. This goal reminded me of Vinicius Jr.'s goal versus Liverpool in the 2022 UCL final. All the four Real Madrid attackers came together to celebrate the goal, which is also the first for Kylian Mbappe in the UEFA Champions League.

Lewling dunked the ball back into the centre after Denis Undav flicked it on from the corner, and the former Brighton attacker towers over the Real Madrid defence and taps home the equaliser. Real Madrid looked shocked. The second Real Madrid goal came from Antonio Rudiger. When facing the team where he began his professional career, he rose highest from a corner taken by Luka Modric to head the ball home.

The third goal was scored by Endrick, an effort that Alexander Nubel was unable to save. For the last set piece, Stuttgart was caught completely off guard, and the teenage Brazilian attempted a wild, surprise shot from distance that Nubel only managed to palm towards the back of the net. He went onto celebrate with the fans inside the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid up and running in the UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid, the defending UEFA Champions League champions, hosted the German Bundesliga runners-up VfB Stuttgart to begin their 2024–25 campaign. In addition, midfield mainstays Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni returned from injury absences for the 15-time champions.

Following a switch to the new Champions League format, this will be the first of eight group matches. Kylian Mbappe, the summer acquisition, has scored goals in the last two La Liga games, so things are looking better for Los Blancos. They have started off on the right foot and the defending champions look set to retain their title.
