The 38-year-old French striker Olivier Giroud finally secured his first goal at Major League Soccer since his much-anticipated transfer to LAFC in 2024. The former Puskas Award winner scored a brilliant free kick from just outside the box.

The former striker, who has had the experience of playing in top European divisions, took 16 appearances to hit his first goal at LAFC. Oliver Giroud was fouled just outside of the box by Portland Timbers player Kamal Miller. Olivier Giroud expressed a desire to take a free-kick and he did it with perfection.
The former Arsenal and AC Milan striker took charge of a free kick from just outside the opponent's box. Giroud then thundered the free-kick at the back of the net giving no chance to the goalkeeper whatsoever.
Earlier, Olivier Giroud scored two goals in other competitions for LAFC, including one in the 2024 U.S. Open Cup final against Sporting Kansas City and another in the 2024 Leagues Cup final against the Columbus Crew.
Olivier Giroud's goal laid the foundation for Los Angeles FC to come back from an early two-goal deficit to secure a 3-3 draw in Portland. David Martinez equalized the score at 2-all in the 64th minute, and Denis Bouanga converted a penalty in the 90th minute to ensure a share of the points. Moving forward, France's all-time top scorer will look to add more goals to his MLS tally and help LAFC claim the Major League Soccer crown.
