Romania are currently playing their opening game of Group E against Ukraine at the Allianz Arena in Munich. They are currently leading thanks to an amazing strike from midfielder Nicolae Stanciu and have been playing some amazing football up until now. Ukraine have looked shaky at the back and now have to make a tremendous comeback if they want to take all three points from this game.

Nicolae Stanciu scored during the 29th minute that gave Romania the lead over Ukraine, becoming the first player who plays in the Saudi Pro League to register a goal in the Euros. After a mistake by Ukraine's Andriy Lunin, the ball came directly to Romania, where Stanciu curled it into the top corner from the edge of the box, giving his team a critical lead.

Stanciu currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Damac and has already faced Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr. The Romanian has six goals and 7 assists for Damac in all competitions. During 70 national team appearances, he scored 14 goals. This was Stanciu's first goal in the UEFA Euro 2024.

Romania on course for an unlikely win over Ukraine?

The Romanian defence features Tottenham Hotspur’s Ragu Dragusin and Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu. The duo have been amazing in the first half and would be looking to keep the opposition attackers quiet for the rest of the game. They are certainly the underdogs in this game but are not playing like that at all. The players have looked confident with the ball at their feet and are trying to increase the lead with every small opportunity that they get.

This is only the sixth time in their history that Romania have qualified for the European Championships. They have won only one game in the history of the European Championships which came way back in 2000. In Switzerland, at the Stade du Pays de Charleroi witnessed an iconic 3-2 win over England. That win in their last group game of the tournament saw them advance to the knockout rounds for the first time in their history.
