The Prince of Brazilian football, Neymar Junior, netted his first goal since rejoining Santos FC on Sunday, providing a boost to his confidence amid discussions about his recent slump in performance. Wearing the captain's armband for Santos, he opened the scoring in a 2-1 victory against Água Santa by successfully converting a penalty in the 14th minute. This match, part of the São Paulo state tournament, took place at the Vila Belmiro stadium, the home ground of 'Peixe'.

Neymar placed the ball into the bottom right corner, taking advantage of goalkeeper Luan Ribeiro's misdirection as he dove the opposite way. This goal came at an important time especially when Neymar seemed to struggle getting back to professional football. This also marked his 139th goal in 234 appearances for Santos.

This goal holds particular significance as it marks his first since 2023, when he celebrated a 3-0 victory for his former team, Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, against Iranian club Nassaji in the AFC Champions League.
Neymar celebrated his first goal in just his fourth match after returning to the club where he began his career. He rejoined Santos at the end of January after terminating his contract with the Saudi team, where injuries had severely limited his playtime.
The Alvinegro squad started the tenth matchday outside the qualifying spots for the quarter-finals, but this victory has propelled them into contention.
