WATCH: Marcus Rashford dribbles past Porto defenders to score blistering goal

Tonight during Manchester United’s game against FC Porto, in their 2024–25 UEFA Europa League campaign, Marcus Rashford scored a mesmerizing goal to give the lead to his side. Erik ten Hag was handed out the ideal start when Marcus Rashford entered from the left and did some incredible footwork to dribble past two defenders. Costa made a terrible mess of his effort to the near post, which really ought to have been saved.

Rasmus Hojlund began the move by passing the ball through to Christian Eriksen, who walked into the No 10 zone. He slid it to Rashford, who played a straightforward through pass after waiting for Hojluind to begin his run. Hojlund made a passable attempt using his left foot, but Costa was perplexed as to how he managed to get it under his right hand. 

While Andre Onana did a good job of stopping one header, he was powerless to stop Pepe's counterattack, which came in quicker than Lisandro Martinez. Diogo Dalot was the defender who made the mistake in the build-up by taking too long to get rid of a loose ball.

Samuel performed admirably, swerving to go ahead of Matthijs De Ligt and planting his header under the crossbar and beyond Andre Onana to equalize for Porto. However, Manchester United must take responsibility for this as soon as they resolve the issue, it resurfaces.

Manchester United look to overcome massive Porto challenge

After a run of unsatisfactory performances, Erik ten Hag's team is hoping to recover from last weekend's devastating 3-0 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutchman is under a lot of pressure. Ten Hag is rumored to have just two games left to preserve his job following a string of results that includes draws with FC Twente and Crystal Palace.

Though they did lose 3-2 to Bodo/Glimt during their opening UEFA Europa League game, Porto has not experienced the same difficulties as Manchester United in the league. Therefore, perhaps Ten Hag can get a much-needed win tonight in preparation for the challenge this coming weekend at Aston Villa.
