Inter Miami's record goal-scorer Lionel Messi staged a wonderful comeback win for the Herons in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2025. The crowd was in awe not just of Messi's magical performance but also of his unique 'first-time' celebration involving kids.
Lionel Messi is the second-highest goal scorer of all time with 858 career goals to his name. He has pulled off numerous cold celebrations, including- Kiss the Boot (2009 UCL Finals ), Raising his shirt ( 2017 El-Classico) and so on. However, the latest addition to his list of celebrations is easily the most heartwarming one.

The Argentine led Inter Miami to a thrilling 3-2 aggregate victory over LAFC in the Champions Cup quarterfinals. Lionel Messi converted a penalty in the 83rd minute, securing Inter Miami's place in the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals. After scoring, Messi ran to the sideline to celebrate with his teammates before heading to his family's pitchside suite to embrace his sons Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro, while his wife Antonella Roccuzzo beamed in the background.

Lionel Messi's individual brilliance carried Inter Miami to a nail-biting 3-2 victory on aggregate against LAFC in the Chase Stadium. Lionel Messi struck twice, once from open play and the other from a penalty, to contribute to Heron's victory.
After converting the penalty in the 83rd minute, Messi ran towards the pitchside to celebrate his goal with the kids and his family. He was seen hugging his kids, Mateo, Thiago and Ciro, with his wife Antonella in the background.
LAFC headed into the fixture with a slender 1-0 lead they secured on their home ground. The visitors also got off to a dream start in Chase Stadium as Long scored the opener for LAFC in the 9th minute. Messi showed his class as he netted an outstanding equaliser in the 35th minute then Federico put Miami in the driver's seat as he netted the second goal for the Herons in the 61st minute.
Inter Miami will now face Canadian club Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The semi-finals will take place over two legs on April 24th and 30th.
