Barcelona is determined to maintain their perfect start to the season by triumphing over Girona, a team they suffered two defeats against in the previous season. Hansi Flick is experiencing his first Catalan derby, and it has been a delightful one so far, with the Blaugrana taking the lead in the first half at Montilivi.

The visitors asserted their dominance in the early stages, although they failed to create any clear-cut chances. However, the deadlock was broken in the 31st minute, with Barcelona's young talent, Lamine Yamal, seizing the opportunity. The 17-year-old managed to break through the defense and calmly dispatched the ball past Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in a one-on-one situation.
