The future of Dutch Football star Frenkie De Jong has come under question yet again. Deco who is the director at FC Barcelona has come out and squashed any rumours about the player leaving the club. Deco was asked to speak about the future of Frenkie De Jong with the Catalan side.
Deco while speaking to the media said, “I don't understand all the talk about Frenkie, He has a contract with Barca and we are very happy with him. He is a player we are anxious to see come back because we need Frenkie.”
The director of FC Barcelona also said, “We want him to stay, but the player will decide at the right time. It is not a matter for now. What matters is that Frenkie plays with us again, because we need him and we value him very much."
Manchester United have long been called the favorites to land the Dutch star. But the latest comments by Deco will put any cold water on any hopes any of the clubs have regarding buying Frenkie De Jong.
The 27-year-old has been away due to injury concerns. As per reports the Dutch star could be soon back in the mix as he has started to train. According to a journalist in the know, De Jong is back to the training pitch and should soon make himself available.
FC Barcelona have played four games and won all four and are top of the table. They next face Girona FC who are 5th in the table with 7 points from 4 games so far this season.
27-year-old Frenkie De Jong has played 151 times for FC Barcelona and scored 12 goals since his move from Ajax. The mid fielder when in form is one of the best players in Europe and can dictate the pace of the game. The Spanish club reportedly paid over 70 Million for the Dutch star.
Hansi Flick will want to continue his good start to the season and look for 5th win on the bounce. The manager has been getting a lot of accolades for the way he has set his team and the tempo with which they play.
