Real Madrid is aware that its players cannot afford to make a mistake in their own game against Athletic Club, especially since FC Barcelona triumphed in Mallorca twenty-four hours earlier. They are still on track to accomplish so, though, since they have just lost a great chance to tie the score and are presently down at San Mames.
Alex Berenguer gave Los Leones the lead, but Real Madrid had the ideal opportunity to tie the score shortly after when Julen Agirrezabala fouled Antonio Rudiger in the penalty area. But the Athletic goalkeeper stopped Kylian Mbappe's attempt.
Real Madrid had already fallen down 1-0 when Mbappe missed his final penalty versus Liverpool, and it cost them dearly since they lost 2-0. As his team looks for a much-needed equalizer in this crucial match at San Mames, Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that they don't regret it this time.

“Great talent like Mbappe is an act” : Carlo Ancelotti
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti flatly denied accusations that Kylian Mbappe was a "coward" or "insecure" for forsaking his penalty-taking duties against Getafe after he missed his effort against Liverpool.
The Frenchman was inundated with criticism during his first few weeks in Madrid. The outrage peaked when Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher stopped Mbappe's second-half penalty kick during last week's 2-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to the English powerhouses. When Madrid was awarded a penalty kick versus Getafe on Sunday, Jude Bellingham took over while Mbappe watched on. The England player elegantly threw David Soria the incorrect way.
The former Chelsea manager said, “Getafe’s penalty can be analysed in two ways. Someone sees it as an act of insecurity and we see it as an act of responsibility and altruism. These are two important things for us. The altruism of a great talent like Mbappe is an act that we value very much because it means that the one who could be the greatest talent in football is putting himself at the service of the team.
