WATCH: Goalie David de Gea registers assist in Fiorentina's 3-1 win

In the 12th round of Serie A, Fiorentina overcame Verona 3-1 today, thanks to a hat-trick from forward Moise Kean. But the match's high point came from an unexpected place. David De Gea, the renowned goalkeeper for Fiorentina, recorded his second assist of his career during the second minute of extra time.

Moise Kean broke free from the defenders, faced the Verona goalie one-on-one, and scored the third goal of the game after the seasoned Spanish goalkeeper blasted a strong clearance downfield. De Gea's lone other assist came in 2021 while he was a Premier League player for Manchester United. Fiorentina was able to maintain their third-place finish in Serie A with this win.

Moise Kean’s stunning hat-trick against Hellas Verona

With a spectacular hat-trick, Moise Kean gave Fiorentina their sixth straight Serie A win, temporarily tying Verona for first place in the standings. The surprising 2-1 UEFA Conference League loss against APOEL Nicosia on Thursday stopped the Viola's run of seven straight wins across all competitions. 

Lucas Beltran zipped a through pass for Moise Kean to keep the ball off Giangiacomo Magnani and glide the finish through Lorenzo Montipò from 10 yards out, breaking the tie in less than four minutes. The Italian international scored in his third straight league game.

After the restart, Andrea Colpani's long-range shot went inches wide, and Yacine Adli's free kick put Montipò to the test at the near post. Once more, Fiorentina took the lead thanks to Kean, who managed to hold off Magnani long enough to raise his right leg and volley from five yards out with an impressive finish.

When Christian Kouame stole Ondrej Duda in midfield and pulled out the goalkeeper on minute 83, Kean should have scored his hat-trick to seal the victory, but the Italian miraculously blasted over a vacant goal from 12 yards out. When Kean ran onto a lengthy David De Gea ball, he cut inside his opponent and drilled the inside of his right boot towards the far bottom corner to ultimately complete his hat-trick in stoppages.
