FC Barcelona have lucked out in having a talent like Lamine Yamal and have also posted an old video of the 16-year-old showing how good he had been in his initial years as a prodigy as well.

The comparison may have erred on the side of hyperbole when viewers took in Lamine Yamal's captivating cameo during Spain's 1-0 victory against Albania at UEFA Euro 2024. With FC Barcelona, Yamal had an incredible breakthrough season that is further elevating his already rising profile in Germany.

His knockout performances have been even stronger than his stellar group stage performances. Following his impressive performances versus Georgia and the tournament's hosts, Yamal inspired Spain's semi final triumph against France on Tuesday night with an incredible equalizing goal. The fact that he is only sixteen years old feels almost unreal. However, Yamal, who is currently breaking records elsewhere as well, is already the youngest starter and scorer in Barcelona's history.

At the same age, Lionel Messi had not yet made his competitive senior debut, but Yamal had already amassed 51 senior games for Barcelona and 13 caps for Spain, six of which came in a major tournament. Of course, it still has to be seen if this gifted young winger will be able to match the Argentine's incredible accomplishments in the game. However, there's no denying the breadth of his skill or the height of his potential.

The FC Barcelona wonderkid, who changed the record books at the age of 16, has frequently been hailed as a generational talent. The day after his 17th birthday, on Sunday, in Berlin, he will take on England after leading Spain to the European Championship final this summer.

Yamal's spectacular goal in Spain's semi-final match against France, which saw World Cup Mbappe struggle to instill confidence in Les Bleus in his captaincy, helped secure Spain's tickets to that grand event. Next season, the two will be playing for La Liga heavyweights Barca and Real Madrid on opposite sides of the intense Clasico divide, reigniting their rivalry.
