The Scottish defense kept the 39-year-old superstar in check for the majority of the contest, frustrating Cristiano Ronaldo in the 0-0 draw. Even though Cristiano Ronaldo got his chances, as any player of his caliber would, the Portuguese star was unable to take advantage of them, and the Scots ended up winning.

But for Robertson, the hero of Liverpool, and his team, the draw was a much-needed outcome. With just one victory in the previous 16 games and ten matches without a victory, a result such as this demonstrated some improvement from Steve Clarke's team.

Furthermore, Scotland had dropped their last four games, demonstrating the importance of a draw versus one of the world's top teams. Nevertheless, the team had opportunities to drastically improve their fortunes, but the Portuguese defense's steadfastness prevented it from happening.

Additional credit must be given to Robertson as well as the team Clarke sent out to frustrate the Portuguese attack, which left Ronaldo confused at the conclusion of the game. In the meantime, Portugal was outstanding on both sides of the ball. The captain, Robertson, displayed his skills and kept a clean sheet.

He demonstrated his command of the tempo by winning three out of four duels as well as completing all of his tackles. Additionally, Clarke made sure to stress the significance of this draw for his team's future whilst Robertson and Scotland resisted and neutralized Ronaldo.

The outcome of Tuesday night also reminds me of the altercation between Robertson and Ronaldo during Liverpool's 5-0 thumping of Ronaldo's Manchester United in October 2021. Ronaldo kicked Curtis Jones violently as United was behind going into halftime, which caused Robertson to run over.

Robertson reprimanded Ronaldo for his risky behavior by pointing to his face. The Portuguese player only received a yellow card because he lost his cool at that specific moment. Robertson and the team must be relieved that their difficult run has ended at Ronaldo's expense, even though Scotland only managed to draw with Portugal.
