England and Chelsea football star Cole Palmer has picked Lionel Messi as his favorite while growing up. The 22-year-old has been sizzling English Premier League this season and has been one of the best players in the world. 

During an interview with Goal, the young Chelsea star said, “I wanted to be Lionel Messi when I was a kid.” When asked to make his pick for the greatest footballer between Messi and Ronaldo, the English star went with the Argentine sensation. 

When asked to name the best player he has played with, Palmer said the name of current city star Kevin De Bruyne. When asked to name the current best player in the world, the England star said Kylian Mbappe. According to the Chelsea star, Wayne Rooney was the best English player of all time.

During the interview with Goal, the young football star who he would love to see take a penalty kick if his life was dependent on it. Without blinking an eye, the 22-year-old picked himself. During the interview, Palmer named Ronaldo as the best finisher and Neymar Jr as the best dribbler. 

Marc Cucurella levies praise on his Chelsea teammate 

Ever since his move to Chelsea from Manchester City, young Cole Palmer has been a top player. Goal.com sat down with Spanish defender Marc Cucurella for a chat and the Chelsea left-back was high on praise for his English teammate. 

Cucurella said “If you don’t see him in his kit you would never in your life say he was a footballer. But then on the pitch he shoots and it doesn’t seem like he is hitting it hard but he scores them all”

Spanish star also went onto add, “He is very different. I don’t know how to explain it. We’re lucky we have him. We’re lucky (Spain) he didn’t play much in the Euros either because he came on and almost messed it up for us”. It is to be noted that Cole Palmer had scored in the 73rd minute to level the game for England during the EURO 2024 finals. 

Marc Cucurella also said that Cole Palmer is destined to be one of the top players in the world. “If he carries on like this, he’’ be amongst the best”. Chelsea will hope that Palmer can continue his fine form as they take on Liverpool next once the league season resumes.
