Crowd problems at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami caused the 2024 Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia to be postponed by nearly an hour. Images and videos from the stadium that have been circulated on social media show a crowd of people gathered outside the stadium gate, which resembled a stampede once it opened. They also include supporters without tickets trying to access the stands through the venue's ventilation system and cops holding up those who entered the stadium without a ticket.

Social media posts and videos saw supporters, the majority of whom were decked out in Colombia's yellow and red colors, leaping over security barriers close to the stadium's southwest entrance and sprinting past police officers and stadium workers. Screams were coming from the background.

Before the game, fans broke through security barriers at one of the entrances, causing mayhem throughout the stadium. Most fans were dressed in Colombian national colors, yellow and red. One such incident was Colombian supporters who were captured on camera entering the game via the venue's air ducts.

Watch here the video:

In the blazing heat of South Florida, a few people were observed obtaining medical attention and requesting water. Officers could drive the throng behind black gates and seal down the entry, preventing anybody from entering, even though many ticket holders had already arrived at their seats.

Security started allowing supporters back in stadium

One little fan wearing an Argentina jersey was permitted inside the gate, screaming frantically as the guy accompanying him and a police officer tried to console him. Officials seemed to open the gates slightly, allowing only a few supporters in at a time, while other irate spectators pressed against the rails.

Around 8.10 p.m. local time, security started allowing supporters back in, with the revised starting time being set for 9.15 p.m., but the disturbance persisted. The spectators persisted in breaching the barriers. After filing inside, they began fleeing in all directions. It didn't seem like the tickets were scanned. A few spectators began scaling barriers to get entry.
