A fun draw kept Brighton and Nottingham Forest's undefeated Premier League records intact, albeit one player and both managers received a red card. Joao Pedro, who was being chased by Brighton, was slipped in by Gibbs-White with less than ten minutes remaining. Although Gibbs-White won the ball with a strong challenge, referee Rob Jones seemed to indicate as much.ย

The referee then appeared to have a change of heart, as the midfield player was given a second yellow card and sent for an early bath. That implies Gibbs-White won't be available for the Fulham home game next weekend. However, the game appeared to have changed when two goals in three minutes shortly before halftime were scored. Anger on the sidelines led to the dismissal of Brighton's Fabian Hurzeler and Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Rui Pedro Silva, the Forest assistant, was booked following a crowd of fans encircling Jones.

Following the red card, both managers were also dismissed. Following Gibbs-White's dismissal, Forest manager Nuno aggressively gestured at Jones, prompting the referee to brandish his red card once more. Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler was later sent a red card amid a brawl close to the dugouts, leaving the Seagulls manager looking on in confusion.ย

Hurzeler was requesting that Gibbs-White be handed his marching orders, while Nuno, the away manager, was incensed at the injury. Nuno seems to imply that fourth official Anthony Taylor was a major factor in the decision given the halftime between the challenge and the red card. Nuno made adjustments between halftime and the hour mark, and they paid off as replacements Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa combined to tie the score in the second half. After five games, Forest has two victories, and three draws, and is currently ranked eighth in the standings of Premier League.ย

Gibbs-White, who was incensed at the ruling, angrily criticized fourth official Anthony Taylor verbally before leaving the AMEX Stadium through the tunnel. The match ended all square at 2-2, with the event having no impact on the final score.ย
