England suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Iceland in their final Euro 2024 warm-up game. Bukayo Saka was involved into the game as a substitute during the second half and barely completed 25 minutes. But afterwards the winger became featured on the back pages of many newspapers, much to the dismay of the fans.

England enters UEFA Euro 2024 after facing defeat against Iceland and will face Serbia on June 16. They will also face Denmark and Slovenia during the group stage. They are in the thick of a difficult run of form, with only one win in five going into next week's event. Fans were not delighted, with some reportedly booing Gareth Southgate's team off the pitch.

Mainoo will be hoping to have contributed enough versus Iceland to secure a starting spot at the Euros. The Manchester United youngster has been nominated to the Three Lions team for the tournament following an outstanding debut season.

“Any chance to learn is a good opportunity” : Kobbie Mainoo

Mainoo got his third appearance for the team during the game. The Manchester United midfielder thinks England has a lot to prove to fans. When asked if the setback against Iceland had damaged the environment in the changing room.

The Manchester United midfielder said, “Not at all! We know the quality we have in the changing room and now we just have to show the fans we’re good enough and we can compete in Germany. I think going into a tournament after a loss can be a good thing. We’ve got a point to prove now to ourselves really because we know we’re better than that and play a lot better football.”

He added, “It was humbling and we have to come together now. We’ve got a chip on our shoulder and have to come together and have the motivation now to go into that first game and prove a point. I think so if we’re not winning we’re learning. Any chance to learn is a good opportunity and better now than in nine days.”
