Vinicius Junior is injured and will be out of action for weeks

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr will be unavailable for the UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool on Wednesday as he is dealing with a leg muscle injury. His injury occurred during Real Madrid's impressive 3-0 victory over Leganes this past weekend, as confirmed by the Spanish club on Monday.

Real Madrid's official statement

"Following tests carried out today on our player Vini Jr by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. Pending evolution," Real Madrid's statement.

Recent media reports indicate that the Ballon d'Or runner-up is anticipated to be sidelined for three to four weeks due to injury. This could potentially mean missing up to seven matches across all competitions before the winter break, including crucial fixtures against Girona and Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, as well as a Champions League matchup with Atalanta.

Vinicius enters the long list of Injured players

Vinicius Jr now joins a roster of players currently dealing with injuries, which includes key teammates such as Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, Aurelien Tchouameni, and David Alaba.

Vallejo, Antonio Ruediger, Ferland Mendy, and Fran Gracia are the only defenders left in the senior squad for Los Blancos. Signings are essential in January to stabilize a season that is teetering on the brink of collapse.

Although he didn't score, he played a crucial role by assisting Kylian Mbappe in getting the team's first goal. Additionally, he made an important contribution to the second goal by earning a free at the edge of the box, which Federico Valverde converted to extend Madrid's lead.

Real Madrid, the defending champions, currently hold the second position in the La Liga standings with 30 points, just four points behind Barcelona, who recently drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo.
