Vinicius Jr. is set to miss Brazil’s quarter-final clash after receiving his second yellow card of the tournament during the game against Colombia today. The Real Madrid winger got the caution during the 7th minute of the game after Colombia looked set to go on the attack at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Machado was at the forefront of Colombia's first real offensive. In the final third, he held the ball well and passed it to James Rodriguez before Vinicius fouled him. The winger became the first player of the evening to be recorded in the referee's books when the referee blew his whistle for a freekick.

Despite this early setback with one of their major attacking threats on a caution, Brazil took the lead thanks to their right-sided winger. Raphinha attempted a freekick with great skill, as he wrapped his foot across the ball and took a shot. Vargas was unable to get a touch as the ball was shot towards the top-left corner following a stunning connection. The Brazilian made an amazing attempt to provide his team a significant advantage in this must-win game for the side.

Who can be the possible opponents for Brazil in the quarter-finals?

Brazil is generally a heavy favorite for triumphing in the Copa America 2024, but they started the season poorly this time around, as they drew 0-0 with Costa Rica and all their players had a mediocre game. But in their second encounter against Paraguay, the Seleção came back stronger, winning 4-1 and greatly increasing their prospects of moving on to the quarterfinals.

Brazil will proceed to the quarterfinals, which means they will play Panama on Saturday, if they defeat Colombia and take top position in the group with seven points. Brazil will go to the quarterfinals to be the second-place side in the group and take on Uruguay in their subsequent Saturday encounter if the match between Colombia and Brazil ends in a draw. Only if Costa Rica fails to overcome Paraguay by a significant margin will the team captained by Vinicius Junior advance in second place if Colombia triumphs against Brazil.
