The fixtures for next season have been confirmed by UEFA, and as usual, Tuesdays and Wednesdays will host the majority of the games. The whole schedule for the Champions League has been released by UEFA, with games to begin tonight and have also announced that some of the matches will take place on Thursdays this season.

Arsenal, who placed second in the Premier League this year, has earned a spot in the 2024–25 Champions League, where they will join Manchester City, Liverpool, as well as Aston Villa. But even if the Gunners advanced into the UEFA Champions League, they might still play a Thursday night match in Europe the following season.

On the other hand, there will be no UEFA Conference League or UEFA Europa League games played during the inaugural gameweek of the season, which takes place from September 17–19. Each European competition is going to have an exclusive gameweek, involving just matches from that tournament taking place during that specific midweek, as confirmed by UEFA earlier.

Therefore, on Thursday, September 19, some Champions League games are going to be played in place of the UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League matchups. 29 January 2025 is the last day of the "league stage," which is the other important date to keep in mind. There won't be any Champions League matches on Tuesday of that week, instead, all 36 teams are scheduled to compete on Wednesday.

How does the new UEFA Champions League table work?

For those who are not familiar with the UEFA Champions League's new league-stage format, each team will be playing eight games, four at home as well as four away, against eight different opponents. To generate a combined league table, the outcomes of those eight fixtures will be compared to the outcomes of the eight matches played by each of the other 35 clubs in the competition.

Finishers 9 through 24 advance to the play-off round, while finishers 25 through 36 are eliminated. The top eight finishers advance directly into the round of 16. It's a two-leg knockout competition to the final as normal after that.
