Uncapped Liverpool youngster Ben Doak has been unexpectedly included in Steve Clarke's tentative Scotland team for UEFA Euro 2024. The youngster is yet to appear in an official Premier League game and has only recently returned to training following a knee surgery in December.

Celtic winger James Forrest has been recalled over three years after his last international game, and inexperienced Bristol City defender Ross McCrorie has been included. The 28-man list needs to be reduced to 26 by June 7.Head coach Clarke keeps four goalkeepers, notably veteran Craig Gordon, and one is anticipated to be released.

Scotland will prepare with friendlies versus Gibraltar and Finland prior to opening the tournament versus hosts Germany on June 14. Scotland's Group A opponents include Switzerland and Hungary.

Seventeen of them were Clarke choices from the postponed Euro 2020. McCrorie has previously featured in senior squads, and the dynamic former Rangers and Aberdeen player was a regular at Under-21 level, appearing 20 times during a four-year span. He missed the first part of the season due to injury, but has since become an established starter for Bristol City, playing at right-back, wing-back, and central defence.

Doak has scored two goals during six under-21 appearances for his country. In the early stages of the season, he participated in three UEFA Europa League appearances and one EFL Cup appearance, as well as a cameo in the Premier League's opening day.
