After a successful temporary stint, Ruud van Nistelrooy talks about his sentiments about departing Manchester United and starting over with Leicester City. The Dutchman talks candidly about his chat with Ruben Amorim and his goals of keeping Leicester from going down.
After a productive tenure as interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy acknowledged regret at his dismissal from Manchester United. The Dutchman did, however, concede the rationale behind Ruben Amorim's choice to hire his own backroom employees.
After Erik ten Hag was fired, Van Nistelrooy took over as manager of Leicester City last month, and in his four games as manager, United were undefeated. He had been his countryman's assistant prior to taking on the temporary position. The former Dutch attacker told reporters that leaving Manchester United did hurt him on Monday, December 2. Van Nistelrooy said that he had a productive talk with Ruben Amorim, which enabled him to move on and seize fresh chances.
The former PSV said, "The only job I would take as an assistant was at United because of the bond that I have with the people in the club and the fans. But in the end, I got my head round it because I also understand the new manager."
The former Real Madrid striker added, "I spoke to Ruben Amorim about it, the conversation was grateful, man to man, manager to manager, and that helped a lot to move on and straightaway get into talks with new possibilities which lifted my spirits."
“People see Real Madrid” : Ruud van Nistelrooy
Van Nistelrooy, who scored an incredible 150 goals in his five years at Manchester United prior to joining Real Madrid, thinks his tenacity will be crucial in keeping Leicester City, now in 16th position, from going down.
The former Netherlands forward ended by saying that, "People see Real Madrid, Manchester United, but my first three seasons as a professional were in Dutch football with FC Den Bosch, so I know what it’s like to fight."
