Cristiano Ronaldo, who guided Portugal to victory at the 2016 European Championship, has been included to Roberto Martinez's 26-member UEFA Euro 2024 squad, which was unveiled on Tuesday. The 39-year-old holds the competition record for goals scored (14), as well as the most games played (25) in the event. Although his side, Al Nassr, did not win the league trophy this year, he tops the Saudi Pro League scoring lists with 33 goals and 11 assists.
The event begins in just under a month in Germany, and a lot of the participating countries have already begun to name their squads. Germany stunned several when Julian Nagelsmann made the bold choice to leave out some major names. Meanwhile, France and the Netherlands are making strong rosters as they seek to go all the way.
Former Manchester United and Real Madrid sensation Cristiano Ronaldo has been included to Roberto Martinez's squad, as could be expected. Premier League talents Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, and Ruben Dias have been added to the provisional team.
The European Championship will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, featuring 24 teams competing for the title. Portugal is in Group F against Turkey, Czechia, and Georgia. Prior to the tour, the team will play three friendly matches versus Finland (José Alvalade Stadium, June 4), Croatia (National Stadium, June 8), and the Republic of Ireland (Aveiro Municipal Stadium, June 11).
