Reports: Real Madrid set to extend Antonio Rudiger’s contract despite club's strict age policies

The star centre-back Antonio Rudiger is currently in action for Real Madrid in the ongoing La Liga 2024-25. The Germany International has played all the matches for the club, spending 90 minutes in all the games except for not being in the starting eleven in the home game against Espanyol last month, in which he spent only 7 minutes as a substitute on the field.

The Los Blancos seem to be happy and confident with having the star centre-back in their defense. However, the 31-year-old’s contract with Real Madrid is expiring in the next one and a half years on June 30, 2026.

In the same line of events, the reports in Marca understand that the Spanish club is looking ahead to reward a contract extension Rudiger till 2027 or 2028.

“Real Madrid are considering to reward Rüdiger with a contract extension until 2027 or 2028, this is normally against the club policy as he is over 30. But the club is delighted with him,” reads a report by Spanish media outlet Marca.

Notably, the German star signed with Real Madrid two and a half years back on July 1, 2022, and his contract with the club is till June 30, 2026. So, the club is reportedly looking ahead to continue with Rudiger beyond his current contract till June 30, 2026.

The club has looked quite satisfied with the presence of Rudiger which might made them think about having him till the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The Los Blancos also signed the former PSG star Kylian Mbappe earlier this season, alongside some other big signings.

Speaking of Real Madrid’s performance in the ongoing La Liga 2024-25, they are enjoying a brilliant run of form in the tournament with 12 wins and only two defeats, alongside four drawn games. They are placed in the second spot on the tournament’s points table, just a point behind the table toppers, Atletico Madrid.
