Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has stated that Toni Kroos merely needs to start picking up the phone if, when the new season begins, his desire for more football becomes too strong to ignore.Kroos announced his retirement after the Euros three weeks ago and finished his final season with Real Madrid winning the La Liga and Champions League double. He has expressed his delight at being able to conclude his career with an outstanding campaign at the club.

Nonetheless, Ancelotti has continually lamented the choice he made, while also applauding his courage in making it at the time. However, in an interview with Il Giornale (via Diario AS), he disclosed that he had spoken with Kroos about the prospect of returning.

Ancelotti said, “Luka is a unique example of quality and professionalism. Unfortunately, Kroos decided to stop, he is a German in his decisions, but he will continue living in Madrid. I told him that if he changes his stance in autumn, we start again with a call.”

“Germany, who play at home, have an interesting team” : Carlo Ancelotti

The former Everton manager spoke about Kroos and his nation's chances at the UEFA Euro 2024. He said, “Germany, who play at home, have an interesting team. Italy has lacked a generational shift after the 2021 victory, I don’t know what chances we have [of winning].”

Kroos, being German in all of his choices, appears unlikely to reverse his decision, but Ancelotti's stance makes sense. The former Bayern Munich midfielder has stated that he would begin mentoring at Valdebebas in Real Madrid's academy next season, thus it is not unlikely that he will see some of Ancelotti next season.

Kroos also rated his team’s chances in this World Cup as he said, “We can hold our own against any opponent. The countdown is on and I want to play these last games [of my career] the way I played the last games for Real, with the greatest possible success."
