The Spanish giants despite missing major players for more than half of the season have been able to be the best in the domestic circuit once again. They are also in the final of the UEFA Champions League and will be facing Borussia Dortmund at the iconic Wembley Stadium. The club has been linked with Kylian Mbappe as the star French footballer is all set to join his dream club. However, Madrid this time has been a little more conscious about getting the deal done as in the previous season the transfer collapsed as the footballer decided to stay in Paris Saint-Germain for another season. As many reports suggest the 25-year-old winger has already signed the contract with the club, but the official announcement is yet to be made.
Mbappe has already announced his departure from France's capital club in a video he released before the final home game. The World Cup winner will join the Spanish side as a free agent, he currently is busy with the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 and there is a possible chance of participating in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Perez stands firm on not letting Mbappe participate in the Olympics
As the excitement bubbles up for the Olympics, as per the report by L'Equipe, Madrid has given the verdict that the French superstar despite his interest in playing at the Olympics, will not be taking a part. The decision comes for the workload management of the footballer, as they want him fully fit for the whole season and to avoid any kind of minor injuries as well. Previously France President Emmanuel Macron desperately wanted the winger to participate in the upcoming international multi-sport event.
He discussed with the club president Florentino Perez at an event celebrating FIFA’s 120th anniversary at the Elysee Palace. Irrespective of his request Perez has not moved a bit and stayed firm with his decision of not letting Mbappe participate in the Olympics in Paris.
