PSG and Arsenal suffer defeats as FC Barcelona claim huge victory in UEFA Champions League

As many as seven UEFA Champions league fixtures took place on November 7th as teams approached halfway mark of the round robin phase. 

Crvena Zvezda vs FC Barcelona 

Crvena Zvezda hoped to return to winning ways after losing their previous UEFA Champions League outings this season in their backyard as they hosted Spanish Club giants Barcelona. Barcelona extended their winning run in the Champions League as they humbled the Serbian side 5-2 with goals coming from Inigo Martinez, Robert Lewandowski Raphinh and Fermin Lopez. 

Inter - Milan vs Arsenal

Inter Milan faced off against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal in a highly anticipated match at the San Siro on Wednesday. Both teams boasted talented players eager to secure a vital victory.

At the time, Arsenal was positioned fifth in the Premier League standings, reflecting some inconsistency in their performances this season. Conversely, Inter Milan held second place in the Serie A table and had shown commendable form throughout the season.

Inter Milan held onto their 1-0 as they edged past the Gunners after Çalhanoğlu netted a penalty in the third minute first half's stoppage time. Intern Milan climbed upto the 5th spot in the Champions league table while Arsenal now find themselves crawling at 12th spot.

Paris Saint Germain vs Athletico Madrid 

PSG sqaurred off against Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid in a compelling matchup at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday. 

Atletico Madrid, sitting firmly in third place in La Liga, has proven their competitiveness this season. Meanwhile, PSG stands at the top of the Ligue 1 table and has delivered an impressive performance on the domestic stage.

Athletico Madrid stunned PSG with a 2-1 victory with a late stealer from Correa three minutes into stoppage time. However both teams sit beyond top 20 rankings in the standings at 23rd and 25th spot. 

Benfica vs Bayern Munich 

Benfica squared off against Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday in a pivotal match. 

Currently sitting in 13th place in the UEFA Champions League standings, Benfica has shown resilience and potential throughout the season. 

On the other hand, Bayern Munich found themselves reeling in 23rd place in the Champions League table, facing challenges in their European campaign. Their recent performance included a tough 4-1 defeat against Barcelona.

Bayern Munich edged out Benfica 1-0 as Jamal Musiala found the net in the 67th minute.

Result of other fixtures

In some other Champions League fixtures, Brest defeated Sparta Praha 2-1. Salzburg humbled Feyenoord 3-1 and Atalanta defeated Stuttgart 2-0.
