The match on Wednesday showcased a pivotal moment when Di María, who was substituted in for Zeki Amdouni at halftime with the score at 0-0, decisively changed the game by scoring a remarkable goal in the 71st minute.

SL Benfica sails into the semi-finals
In the tough fixture against a strong Santa Clara team, currently positioned fourth in the Primeira Liga, the Lisbon team emerged victorious, showcasing a remarkable performance from Di María and several impactful substitutes. Greek player Vangelis Pavlidis played a pivotal role, not only assisting Di María in scoring but also contributing with two goals of his own. This victory ensured the Eagles advance to the semifinals of the competition, where they will look forward to facing the winner of the fixture between Moreirense and their opponent.
Angel Di Maria had a disappointing club season so far, where the veteran has managed to score only three goals and assisted twice in a total of 12 club fixtures so far. The World Cup-winning striker bid farewell from international football earlier this year in July, after the Argentine national team won the Copa America, defeating Columbia in a little over stoppage time. Angel Di Maria revealed that he got the kind of farewell he desired which was to hang up the boots as a champion.
