Referee David Coote has been reported to have sent messages discussing the organization of a 'drugs party' during the half-time break of a recent Carabao Cup match.
Coote, who was serving as the fourth official for the Tottenham vs. Manchester City game last month, appeared preoccupied with personal plans. According to reports from The Sun, he allegedly attempted to arrange a gathering at a Travelodge for the match on October 30. It was also mentioned that he sent a text to a friend at halftime, indicating that was getting ready to meet them, although ultimately, the gathering did not take place.
Shocking revelation from Coote's friend
One of Coote's pals told The Sun that On the day of the game, Coote was messaging him repeatedly and wanting a drugs party after he’d finished at Spurs.
Coote's friend mentioned that he only reserved the Travelodge shortly before kick-off, then issued a notice 11 minutes before the start of the match and claimed that Coote ought to have concentrated on his job rather than organizing drug parties.
One of Coote's 'pals' told The Sun: "On the day of the game he was messaging me repeatedly and wanting a drugs party after he’d finished at Spurs.
"He didn’t book the Travelodge until just before kick-off, then sent a notification 11 minutes from the game starting. It was crazy. City striker Erling Haaland was on the bench, so I was watching them on TV pretty much side by side."
"Surely he should have been concentrating on the game, not arranging drugs parties."
Coote's facing disciplinary charges
Recently, Coote was recorded expressing abusive opinions about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp. As a result, he faced suspension for his conduct. Shortly after, additional footage surfaced showing him snorting 'drugs' at Euro 2024.
UEFA has launched a thorough investigation into Coote's actions at Euro 2024 and has appointed an Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector to rigorously determine if he violated any disciplinary regulations.
Coote, a Premier League referee since 2018, is about to face the impending consequences of the latest scandal. With each new controversy that arises, it becomes increasingly clear that the repercussions could be significantly harsher.
