April has seen some iconic moments in the Premier League and it paid off to some star performers. In the latest development, Six players have been shortlisted for April 2024's EA SPORTS 'Player of the Month' award.
It’s worth noting that six players from six different clubs will be running for the prestigious award to make it a competitive one.
The six nominees are as follows:
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): The Reds skipper Bruno Fernandes has been phenomenal in the last month. In five games he scored six goals and led his team to a win and three draws. He also registered one assist in those matches. It is worth noting that two of his six goals were an outstanding long-range effort.
Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City): The Center-back Josko Gvardiol has been phenomenal for Manchester City. He had scored two goals and an assist, which helped Pep Guardiola's team stay on track to win the title. Also, he didn't let any goals in during two games, which was great for his team.
Kai Havertz (Arsenal): Playing his most successful season for Arsenal Kai Havertz scored four goals and provided three assists in six games last month. He played well, scoring two goals against his old team Chelsea and helping out with two goals in the big win against Tottenham in the local rivalry match.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace): In April, Crystal Palace did well in their games. The French star Jean-Philippe Mateta scored five goals in six games which is a big surprise for many. He scored twice in matches against West Ham and Newcastle. He also scored against Manchester City earlier in the month. Overall, he scored five goals in six games. Due to his amazing performances Crystal Palace won three games, drew one, and lost two in April.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea): In April, Cole Palmer of Chelsea emerged as the top scorer in the Premier League, netting an impressive seven goals in four outings. His scoring spree unfolded primarily in two matches: a hat-trick against Manchester United and a four-goal spectacle against Everton. Additionally, Palmer contributed an assist in the match against Sheffield United.
Jordan Pickford (Everton): Despite conceding four goals against Palmer, Jordan Pickford had a stellar April guarding Everton’s goalpost. England's goalkeeper maintained four clean sheets, notably in the crucial derby victory against Liverpool. Notably, there are only two other goalkeepers who surpassed his tally of 23 saves.
