Despite going through the greatest losing skid in his managerial career, Pep Guardiola has maintained that he would not stray from the values that have made Manchester City among the most powerful teams in contemporary football.

For the very first time since 2006, City has suffered a run of five straight losses. They have lost three straight Premier League games, including a humiliating 4-0 loss to Tottenham inside the Etihad Stadium, a 4-1 Champions League loss to Sporting Lisbon, and exit from the Carabao Cup.

Guardiola reaffirmed his faith in the principles that have enabled him to achieve unheard-of success, namely six English Premier League championships and the 2023 UEFA Champions League trophy, as Manchester City gets ready to meet Feyenoord during their next UEFA Champions League match. He said, "Just because this team won a lot, a lot, a lot for many, many, many years. I think in the situation, we have to go direct to our principles and don’t change much, less than ever."

The former FC Barcelona manager said, “What should I change? If I should change in the first season maybe we would not win seven Premier Leagues in eight years. Impossible. I am not going to change. We are big believers in the process and the fundamentals we have to do. Injured players have to come back to their best form, players who have played a lot of minutes because of the injuries need rest, one good result can change our mind and believe."

“Just give me my players back” : Pep Guardiola

While acknowledging the significance of ending the losing skid, Pep Guardiola rejected calls for a significant change. The Spanish manager has criticized the amount of games which has led to a number of injuries in his squad.

The former Bayern Munich defender said, “Just give me my players back… you will see!. It's difficult when you have to play without 4 central defenders, 2 holding midfielders, the best player in the world Rodri out, 3 wingers out, just give me my players back… you’ll see Man City!”.
