Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly considering a transfer bid of €45 million for Real Madrid's promising defender Raul Asencio, as noted by SPORT. Asencio has proven his worth this season, showing his talent and skills during difficult times for the team due to injuries in their defence.
Asencio is important for Real Madrid
Real Madrid is currently navigating a difficult period with Eder Militao out for the season following an ACL rupture last November. Additionally, Antonio Rudiger is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury.
David Alaba is back on the treatment table after recently achieving full fitness following an ACL injury sustained in December 2023. With Real Madrid's defensive lineup severely depleted, Asencio's rise has been a tremendous boost for the club.
The 22-year-old Spanish stopper has made his presence felt in recent times, totalling 21 appearances across all competitions this season, 12 of which were as a starter. With his contract expiring in under 18 months, the La Liga champions are proactively moving to secure him with a new deal.
Paris Saint Germain wants to sign Asencio
PSG is actively monitoring the situation and aims to explore the possibility of bringing him on board. Asensio has a €50 million release clause in his contract, and the Ligue 1 champions are preparing to present an offer that closely aligns with that amount to secure his services.
PSG sporting director Luis Campos has reached out to the player's entourage to explore the potential for a transfer. The Parisians are prepared to present a substantial financial package to entice the Spaniard to join them at the Parc des Princes. However, recent reports confirm that Asensio is poised to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid at the conclusion of this season.
