Neymar Junior is set to begin treatment and rehabilitation program expected to last four to six weeks due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by Al Hilal on Wednesday. This news has sparked discussions regarding the Brazilian's future with the Saudi Arabian club.
Neymar just returned after recovering from ACL injury
In his return from a 12-month injury hiatus, Neymar showcased his resilience by coming on as a substitute during the 58th minute of Al Hilal's 3-0 victory over Esteghlal of Iran in the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday.
The former Barcelona star again suffered a minor injury as he pulled up while stretching for the ball with three minutes left in the match and needed to be substituted.
Coach's Update on Neymar's injury
Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus shared that the situation is unfortunately more complex than a minor injury, indicating that Neymar appears to be dealing with muscle pain rather than a knee issue.
"Unfortunately, it is not a simple injury and he seems to be suffering from muscle pain and it is not a knee issue." said coach.
In an encouraging update to his fans on social media, Neymar expressed optimism that the situation is not too serious. He acknowledged that after being sidelined for a year, such occurrences can happen, as doctors had advised him to exercise caution and gradually increase his playing time.
"Hopefully nothing too much, it's normal that after one year [out] this happens, the doctors had already warned me, so I have to be careful and play more minutes." Neymar wrote.
Recent reports from Saudi Arabian media have indicated that Al Hilal is encountering hurdles in securing Neymar’s registration for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season. As it stands, he remains unregistered for domestic league matches because the club has reached its limit of 10 foreign players on the roster. The Brazilian maestro has just appeared in 7 fixtures since signing for the Saudi giants.
