Nemanja Matic, a former Manchester United player, said that Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho were among the players who frequently arrived late for training. Matic disclosed in a conversation with YU Planet that several of the Manchester-based team's players were notoriously tardy. The Chelsea players behaved professionally during his time at the club, he noted.

The former Manchester United midfielder said, “At Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day. Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and couple of other players. The rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.”

He said that because the players who used to arrive early for training were constantly upset, they formed an internal disciplinary committee, of which Matic was elected president. The 35-year-old went on to say that the late-arriving players were fined £75,000 by the disciplinary committee. He ended by stating that they had intended to utilize the funds to have a celebration in London but were unable to do so because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The former AS Roma midfielder said that, “I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late. During one particular season, we collected around £75,000 in fines.”

Nemanja Matic set to return to the Premier League soon?

After five years, the Serbian departed Old Trafford during the summer of 2022. As a free agent, he first signed with AS Roma, where he remained for a season until moving to Rennes this past summer. He signed a two-year contract, but in January of this year, he left to join Lyon, another Ligue 1 team.

This 36-year-old Matic is 'eager to return' to Uk after Saudi Arabian teams showed interest in him last summer. In January of this year, Fulham was said to be interested in signing Matic. However, the trade fell through, and the two-time Premier League winner with Chelsea ended up at Olympique Lyon.
