Mauricio Pochettino, favourite to join Manchester United in 2024/25 season

Mauricio Pochettino mutually parted ways with Chelsea FC a few days back. In the 11 months of his managerial career with the West London club, the season was mostly down, they picked up the pace towards the business end of the season, by finishing 6th in the league table and qualifying for the UEFA Europa League for next season. The Argentine manager despite winning the last five games of the league has not been retained by the club. 

The 52-year-old manager after departing from London, has urged to stay in England and manage a side. He has been linked with a move to Manchester United for the upcoming season and it is believed that the INEOS group, who took control of footballing operations in Manchester earlier this year, likes the profile of the former Tottenham Hotspur manager. Sir Jim Ratcliffe who heads the Football Operations for the club has been impressed with the footballing mind of the coach. 

Pochettino himself also would love to become the coach of the most successful club in England. He has expressed his desire to be on the hot seat of the Red Devils in the upcoming season. The club have struggled with form in the 2023/24 season as they finished 8th in the league after losing 14 games the most by the club in a single season. 

Tuchel or Pochettino; who will join United?

Erik Ten Hag has been under huge scrutiny after Man U failed to perform as per expectations in the season. Under the Dutch coach, the club finished at the bottom of the UEFA Champions League group stage the worst in their history and they only have a slim chance for a possible UEFA qualification by winning the FA Cup final against city rivals Manchester City. 

The Argentine head coach has a good relationship with former United coach Sir Alex Ferguson and was the frontrunner for the United job when Ten Hag was appointed in 2022. However, there have been other names that are linked with the club Thomas Tuchel is also on the radar for the management.
