The Red Devils, aka Manchester United, have already started their summer transfer window exploits as early as April. According to recent reports, the Red Devils have made decent progress in securing the services of an Everton star.
Manchester United is in the midst of their poorest season as they languish in 13th position in the ongoing Premier League standings. The new manager, Ruben Amorim, appears to need good reinforcements to deliver a better result next season, should Manchester United stay in the English top division.
Manchester United on the verge of securing their first summer transfer
As per reports in the Sun, Manchester United is in negotiations to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton in the upcoming transfer window. Last summer, Everton rejected two bids from Manchester United, as the offers did not meet their set transfer fee of £70 million for the defender. It has now been ascertained by Everton's management that Branthwaite has made up his mind to leave the club by the end of the season. Hence, Manchester United has a high chance of acquiring his services for a decent fee.
Manchester United is expected to secure the signing of Branthwaite easily as both parties have already reached verbal agreements on personal terms.
However, the Red Devils' management may still have to offer a deal worth more than their last bid of £50 million as the defender still has a contract at Everton till 2028. The left-footed ball-carrying defender may prove to be a great inclusion in Ruben Amorim's playstyle, which excels in building up long balls from the backlines.
Manchester United have endured a heavy injury-laden season, with several of their starter players out of the side for the majority of the first and second halves. Lisandro Martinez and Amaad Dialo were the two latest additions to the long list of Man United stars that includes the likes of - Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Matthijs De Ligt.
Manchester United recently clashed against Lyon FC in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League 2025. The Red Devils have kept their hopes alive of winning a silverware this season. Manchester United managed to salvage a 2-2 draw in the crucial away leg fixture. Yoro and Zirkzee found their names on the scoresheet at the end of the match.
