According to sources, Manchester United is prepared to approve Harry Maguire's low-cost January departure. The 31-year-old former Red Devils skipper is in the last nine-month stretch of his Old Trafford deal. Although United has the option of extending the contract by one more year, the center back will likely be sold first.

Erik ten Hag's team reportedly wants to consider bids for Maguire as low as £10 million.
West Ham has previously expressed a great deal of interest in the England player in the summer of 2023. Maguire chose to continue his career at Old Trafford despite falling out of favor under Erik ten Hag, and he finally regained his spot in the squad.

He has rotated either in or out of the starting lineup for United this season, appearing in three of the team's seven matches in the Premier League. After spending £85 million on Maguire during the summer of 2019, the Red Devils are likely to suffer a significant loss on him. At least £30 million would have been demanded for him even before the summer of 2023.

To further push Maguire back down the ladder, Manchester United signed Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich prior to the current campaign. Nonetheless, the Sheffield-born star is still United's best defender in a number of statistical categories. In the current campaign, Maguire has made more interceptions and won more aerial duels on average than Lisandro Martinez and De Ligt.

“I’m frustrated to pick up an injury” : Harry Maguire

Maguire gave ten-man United a late equalizer in their 3-3 Europa League tie with Porto before the international break. After that, he was hurt playing against Aston Villa, and De Ligt took his place at halftime. Next Saturday, Manchester United will play their next game at Old Trafford against Brentford.

Harry Maguire wrote in a post on how he has picked up an unfortunate injury but has promised he would be back sooner rather than later. He said, "I’m frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline but I’ll come back stronger."
