Manchester United have stuggled in the English Premier League 2023/24 season. The Red Devils have been out of the European competition as they are sitting on the 8th position in the league table and have lost 14 games in the season so far the most by the club in a single season. They have also faced the most number of shots than any other club in the European top 5 leagues. The club will be up against Newcastle on Wednesday, hoping for a fight back against the Magpies. 

Erik ten Hag is under huge pressure after the team has failed to perform as per the expecatitions, they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after finishing at the bottom of the table which was their worst finish in the history. The Dutch coach is underfire and might be making his way out of Old Trafford ahead of the next season. The management is looking for a possible replacement.

United contacts former U-18 manager 

The Red Devils after England manager Gareth Southgate, dismissed the rumours of becoming the coach for the club, the hirearchy have contacted Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna, who has worked as a coach at Old Trafford previously. The former Irish footballer was the coach of the U-18 team for United back in 2016 and was till 2018, later joined Ipswich in 2021. Under him the latter club gained promotion in the EFL Championship in 2022/23 season. 

Mckenna was brilliant with the club as he managed them to promote in the PL for the next season after they finished in the top 2 position of the EFL Championship behind Leicester City with one point less than the foxes. Over two seasons, the side accumulated 194 points and scored 193 goals, becoming the first team since Southampton in 2012 to achieve back-to-back promotion from League One to the Premier League. He has been in the radar of Man U and might also join back his former club managing the senior team.
