Darwin Nunez played the entire ninety minutes as the Reds suffered a 2-0 defeat, which was perhaps the final straw for their chances of lifting the Premier League. The attacker had a terrible night; he lost all five of his duels, missed a clear first-half opportunity, and only had 19 touches of the ball, by far the fewest of any player in Liverpool's starting lineup.

After the final whistle was blown by referee Andy Madley, he lost control of his frustrations. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite's goals gave the Toffees the three points. After the match, the Everton players rejoiced with their supporters while the stars of Liverpool mainly stood sad. However, Darwin Nunez started to complain about something to Klopp, as though he was upset.

Nunez made a gesture at the referee, presumably because he was frustrated with Madley. Nunez was moaning, but Klopp was not having it. He pointed to Nunez's mouth and told him to shut up. Nunez was later seen affectionately clapping the officials and referee after offending his management. Nunez was also gestured at by Klopp, who seemed to be at odds with the attacker.

Liverpool now sits three points off the leaders, Arsenal, in the English Premier League standings, with two games remaining against Manchester City. Despite having scored 18 goals across all competitions, Nunez has not lived up to the record-breaking transfer money he received from the club.

Former Liverpool legend believes that Nunez should be sold

Following his confrontation with Klopp and terrible showing against Everton, legendary Reds player Jamie Carragher thinks it could be time to let go of the 24-year-old during the transfer window in the summer.

The former England defender said that, "The chance that Nunez misses before half-time, that is unforgivable at this level. That is not acceptable at this level, certainly when Liverpool are going for the title. I think there is a question to ask. I think after two years at the club, and I have been guilty of this. You want him to do well because there is so much that you like because he gives everything, he runs and causes trouble and gets the odd goal and gets an assist."
