The reigning World champions, Argentina, humbled their neighbours and five-time World Cup winners Brazil 4-1 in their home ground. Messi, typically known to have a calm personality, mocked Raphinha with subtlety on his social media.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or took to his Instagram to post a story celebrating the victory of his national side. However, his story also included a 4-worded phrase that was aimed at Raphinha.

“In, out, I'll follow this team anywhere. We always talk about our football. Congratulations on the great match last night and also on the victory against Uruguay.” Messi wrote in his story.

Raphinha had previously garnered a fair amount of negative attention for his comments on the Argentina national team. Speaking to former Brazilian legend Romario, Raphinha abused the Argentine squad.

"We are going to beat them up on and off the pitch if necessary. I am going to score. They can s*** themselves!" Raphinha said.

"In Argentina, you have to hit them, it hurts! They're b*******." Raphinha added.

Raphinha's indecent comments drew reactions from top footballers in Argentina, including national team coach Lionel Scaloni. Scaloni expressed his mirth for the success of his team's humility and performance on the pitch.

"I excuse Raphinha because I know he didn't do it on purpose. He's defending his country, and I'm sure he didn't want to offend anyone. Brazil will always be Brazil, it's a difficult time for them, but they will return." Scaloni said.

Argentina had four different goal scorers on the matchday with Julian Alvarez, Alexis Mac Alister, Giuliano Simeone and Enzo Fernandez finding the net. Brazil's solitary strike came from Wolves striker Matheus Cunha.
