Lamine Yamal expresses his disappointment on being subbed off by Hansi Flick

Lamine Yamal has explained why he was upset when Hansi Flick took him off the field during FC Barcelona's victory against Alaves over the weekend. The teenager seemed plainly disappointed as he faded during the second half, despite Hansi Flick's best efforts to provide him with a little relaxation amid a busy schedule.

Lamine Yamal informed RNE that his dissatisfaction with his performance was the reason behind his outburst, not the substitution. He said, “No, I think that more than being angry, it was because I was not happy with my game, I demand a lot from myself and that is the line that I must follow to play at 100%.”

The FC Barcelona player added that he had a conversation with Flick after the game since the coach of FC Barcelona was curious as to why Flick had behaved that way. The UEFA Euro 2024 winner added, “He asked me why I was like that, whether it was because of the substitution or because of my game. I could have helped the team, I told him that I would be 100% ready for the next match. He is very close to everyone, to those who play more or less, veterans, he inspires a lot of confidence and that is noticeable in the team.”

Lamine Yamal is now playing for Spain on the international stage and getting ready for matches in the Nations League against Denmark and Serbia.
